You Love Your Skin, So Do I

You Love Your Skin, So Do I

When you are taking a selfie, you always look for the right light. You want your skin to look porcelain smooth and I get that, but you take the color out as well.  I want to show you two images of my high school senior model client. She is super pretty and her skin carries a gold african tone. I shot this image in Old Port (Portland Maine) during her Senior Portraits Experience with me.  The images I think look so different. The left image is shows such color, vibrancy and her true skin tone. The right image shows a flat, and washed out look. So outside of the skin tone there is also more detail in the left image, and the face also changes in the right one as well.

So you are asking yourself, "what does this have to do with my selfies?" It's simple. As a photographer I use a variety of tools. Not just my camera, lenses, and lighting, but down to the tools of developing your images.  On the left is a pretty darn expensive tool and has a several year learning curve to decently use it, and the image on the right is a popular photographer developing program. The way a photographer process the image is just as important as the dedicated craft we learn to make stellar portraits. There isn't any right or wrong answer here, but style is style, and your style may very from mine. My goal is to make sure your skin looks it's best, but that the detail of the images looks just as good. It's really nice to be looking at these two images side by side to see such a difference.

Lastly, to make you understand my craft both of these images are straight out of the camera and no editing has been done. They were both just imported into each program. Even with no editing, I did a great job shooting this and it's pretty close to be ready to sent into my lab and being made into an art piece to hang on the wall.
